Westmeath’s Garrycastle surprised Dubs champions Ballyboden St Enda’s with a determined performance to book a place in the Leinster club football final.
Ballyboden star man Conal Keaney missed the start as he suffered from flu as the southsiders could only manage two points to the Lakeside county champions haul of five in the opening 30 minutes.
The game was Garrycastle’s to lose when Mark McCallan goaled in the 46th minute before they ran out 1-8 to 0-6 winners in the murky mist of Mullingar.
The other Leinster semi-final will have to be replayed after Portlaoise and Clara’s duel was abandoned shortly after half-time due to a waterlogged pitch.
